Wii users Gamecube backup FAQCan the Wii play Gamecube Backups?

what is a Drive chip?
A Drive chip is a 3rd party device that attatches internally to the IC on a Wii's DVD drive and alters the coding allowing the Wii to boot Unsigned and modified code.
That sounds scary do i have to solder this device?
While there are Drive chips that require soldering there is also a clip on adapter called the Wii-clip you can purchase these from modchip suppliers with the chip presolderd to the clip.
Will this void my warranty?
Yes unauthorised opening of an electrcal device will void your warranty but you can open most Wii's without damaging any security seals and if you use a clip type modification it can be removed hiding any tampering.
What chip do i need there are many types?
You will have to idenitfy what IC your Wii drive has you can either try the Wii serial number trackers for this http://wiitracker.nintendo-scene.com/search.php or you can open the Wii for a more reliable conclusion. There are many options for each drive you will have to choose your preferred mod yourself as newer chips are coming out all the time.
I have read that Gamecubes requier the laser pot to be tweaked do i have to do that?
No the Wii does not require pot tweaking.
OK i have modded my Wii what do i need to do now?
Burn your games this can be done on normal sized DVD R using Imgburn http://thepurplecube.org/forums/index.php?topic=134.0 ignore the -R rule my Wii preferrs +R try both and see what gives the best results.
I noticed that a Wii accepts a full DVD R can i put more than one Gamecube game on a disc?
Yes you can create your own disc compilations using Wii-Gamecube Multigame ISO Creator you can find that here http://gbatemp.net/index.php?download=1074
